December–March, clear mornings 08:30–10:30 (especially the day after rain, when the air is clean); low wind for reflections. · from North bank of the basin, near the centre of the edge, facing south: pavilion centred, water in the foreground, Atlas ridge behind. A mid-telephoto (70–135 mm) makes the mountains look bigger.
